There were some fearsome predators in the age of the dinosaur, but who was the king of the carnosaurs? If size is important, then Gigantosaurus is the clear winner, but Tyrannosaurus had several advantages over this massive beast. Tyrannosaurus had a more flexible backbone, so it was more agile and could thread it’s way through woodland. Tyrannosaurus had thick, solid teeth that it used for crushing bone. The Gigantosaurus has to make do with thin, slicing teeth which were not as effective for killing their prey. Tyrannosaurus had binocular vision giving it great depth perception, improving it’s ability to grab it’s victims. Finally, Tyrannosaurus had a much bigger brain which it used to find and track the scent of prey long before the prey was in view. The Tyrannosaurus was indeed the tyrant king.
